"Recently, [Richard] has been invaluably useful in developing my understanding of music technology and recording, passing on his knowledge in clear and manageable ways. Highly recommended."

George Barnett, Professional Musician

"I'd been self taught playing bass for a few years but had reached a plateau in my learning and hadn't gotten any better for a long time. That's when I started getting lessons from Rich and WOW has my playing improved. Rich is not just a fantastic musician but a great teacher too. He lets me set my own pace and pick a direction on what I want to learn and then goes with it, which is a brilliant approach as I'm always learning stuff I want to play that is at a suitable level for me and stretches me just enough to always be improving without feeling like it's too difficult. I started off in-person but moved to online sessions due to coronavirus and they work just as well. If you're looking for a flexible, fun approach to learning music taught by a friendly expert, I couldn't recommend anyone more highly than Rich."

Mark Platt, Bass Guitar Pupil

A musical education

Born in the south of England in Hampshire, and now based in Liverpool, Rich's musical education began early with him picking up the clarinet aged 10. This was quickly followed by the guitar, singing, and then finally piano. At this time, Rich also started singing with multiple choirs, which developed his love of choral traditions, and particularly music from the renaissance period and other early traditions. He continued his musical education by attending the acclaimed Institute of Contemporary Music Performance in London to study a higher diploma in guitar, for which he was recognised in the cohort with the most improved player award. This experience was soon followed by a degree in Music/Popular Music at the University of Liverpool, which included modules in sound recording.
